Install and use the KEZAI extension

The KEZAI extension automatically detects when you read a manga or webtoon chapter on your favorite sites. You read, KEZAI keeps track. Here's how to install and use it.

1. Installation

Chrome

1. Open the Chrome Web Store
2. Search for "KEZAI — Manga Tracker"
3. Click Add to Chrome
4. Confirm the requested permissions
5. The KEZAI icon appears in your extensions bar

Tip: click the puzzle icon at the top right of Chrome, then pin KEZAI for quick access.

Firefox

1. Open Firefox Add-ons (addons.mozilla.org)
2. Search for "KEZAI — Manga Tracker"
3. Click Add to Firefox
4. Confirm the permissions
5. The KEZAI icon appears in your toolbar

Safari (macOS)

1. Open the App Store on your Mac
2. Search for "KEZAI"
3. Install the KEZAI app
4. Go to Safari > Settings > Extensions
5. Check KEZAI to enable the extension
6. The KEZAI icon appears in the Safari toolbar

2. Login

When you first click the KEZAI icon, you'll see the login screen.

1. Enter your email address
2. Click "Send magic link"
3. Open your inbox and click the link you received (valid for 10 minutes)
4. The extension connects automatically

No password to remember. Login is secured via magic link.

3. How it works

Once logged in, the extension works in the background. You don't have to do anything.

Automatic detection

When you open a chapter on a supported site, the extension:

1. Detects the manga — title, chapter number, source site
2. Confirms the reading — you need to stay at least 30 seconds and scroll at least 80% of the page
3. Records your progress — the chapter is saved in KEZAI

This double verification prevents false positives: simply clicking a link doesn't count as reading.

Sync

• Your progress syncs every 30 seconds
• If you're offline, readings are stored locally and sent as soon as you're back online
• Failed sync attempts are automatically retried with progressive delay

4. Supported sites

The extension automatically detects your reading on many platforms, including:

• MangaDex — the largest community manga library
• Webtoon (webtoons.com) — the official webtoon platform
• ComicK — community aggregator
• And many more reading sites

The extension supports dozens of sites and the list is growing regularly.

Your favorite site isn't supported yet? The extension also has a generic detection system that works on most reading sites, even without a dedicated parser. If it doesn't work, let us know and we'll add it.

5. The KEZAI popup

Click the KEZAI icon to open the popup. You'll find:

"Progress" tab

• Your recent readings list, sorted by latest activity
• For each title: cover image, title, chapter number, source site, and when you read it
• Click a title to resume reading directly on the site

Status indicator

• Green dot: everything is synced
• Yellow dot: some readings are pending sync
• Red dot: you're offline (readings will sync later)

"Settings" tab

• Auto tracking: enable or disable automatic detection
• Log out: removes your credentials from the extension

6. Privacy and security

KEZAI respects your privacy:

• URLs are never sent to the server. Only the title, chapter number and site name are transmitted
• Passwordless authentication via magic link
• Tokens expire automatically (15 minutes for JWT)
• Your reading URLs stay stored locally in your browser only
• No advertising cookies or trackers

7. FAQ

Does the extension detect all my reading?

It detects reading on many supported sites. For unknown sites, the generic detection system tries to automatically recognize the title and chapter. If you read on an unsupported site and detection doesn't work, let us know.

What happens if I read offline?

Your readings are stored locally and synced as soon as you're back online.

How do I temporarily disable tracking?

Open the KEZAI popup > "Settings" tab > disable "Auto tracking". You can re-enable it at any time.

Does the extension slow down my browser?

No. The extension only activates on supported reading sites and uses very few resources. The detection script is lightweight and doesn't interfere with browsing.

Can I use the extension on multiple browsers?

Yes. Log in with the same email address on each browser. Your progress will sync everywhere.
